Retailers Association of India (RAI) has made a representation to the Government, urging a reconsideration of the proposed Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) on UPI transactions, highlighting its potential implications for retailers, merchants and consumers. please find attachedRAI's submission.
We are pleased to share that the proposed rollout of UPI MDR has been deferred until after Diwali. This provides temporary relief to the retail industry and helps avoid potential disruption to retail transactions during the festive shopping season, when consumer activity and transaction volumes are at their peak.
While the deferment provides temporary relief, the broader issue remains under consideration. RAI will continue to pursue its representation seeking a reconsideration of the proposed MDR framework and will keep members informed of further developments.
