Shashwat Goenka is the Sector Head of Spencer’s Retail Ltd., of the 31,981 crore RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group which employs over 45,000 people. The Group is involved in diverse businesses including power generation and distribution, carbon black manufacturing, retailing, media and entertainment and BPO services. Spencer’s is a pioneer in modern retail in India with over a 121 stores in more than 33 cities across India. The country’s fourth largest food and grocery retailer with a focus on hypermarkets. Shashwat Goenka completed his schooling at St. Xavier’s Collegiate School in Calcutta and thereafter obtained his degree in Finance, Management and Marketing from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. Shashwat Goenka also serves as a Director on the Board of Firstsource Solutions Limited, the group’s BPO services company and of Phillips Carbon Black Limited, one of the largest producers of Carbon Black in India. He is also Senior Vice President of Indian Chamber of Commerce, a premier body of business and industry in Eastern and North-Eastern India.
