Training and facilitation activities will be a major focus area for
rai. The training activities will be aimed at facilitating new entrants
into the retailing sector and upgrading the skills and knowledge levels
of the existing retail owners, employees and managers. The following
specific tasks will be performed:
- Create basic retail training modules in the key vernacular
languages to be easily delivered in every functional area and in every
category vertical.
- Rai will arrange to organize modules in every functional area and
chosen retail sector vertical and create a bank of training modules
to be sold at fair prices to the member companies, which will form a
revenue stream for rai too.
- Rai will run its own training sessions - A monthly phenomenon covering
the whole country.
- A calendar of training with the details of the programmes, venues
and the dates will be circulated. Basic low cost training to benefit
the retail industry as a whole in frontline selling and store management
skills to facilitate business performance are already underway.
- In order to create more traininers in retailing rai will conduct 'train
- the - trainer' sessions periodically.
- Rai will delivery online retail training through chosen outsourced
portals. This will enable even the rural masses to get trained through
programmes hosted on rai's own website and outsourced portals would
digitize the same for interactive web learning sessions, enable even

About Cart
Retailers Association of India is conducting the Common Admission Retail
Test (CART) on a national basis on the 27th of January 2008 for admission
to the RAI's Postgraduate Program in Retail Management (PGPRM) offered
in 15 institutes currently RAI has tied up with. The objective of the
test is to assess the candidate's aptitude for retail management education,
including Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Reasoning and Consumer Comprehension.
The examination will be conducted at over 25 centers spread across
India . The CART application forms will be available at retail stores
of rai member organisations like Shoppers' Stop, Big Bazaar, Croma,
Viveks, Vishal Mega Mart, Odyssey Bookstore, Landmark Bookstore and
Kirtilals. The application forms will also be available at Career
Launcher Centres and select branches of Axis Bank from the 10th December
2007.
Candidates applying for CART must hold a bachelors degree of any
statutory university with minimum 50% marks. Students who are in their
final year of bachelor's degree education may also apply.
